How to use Varjelus
How to use Varjelus phone charging case
The protective charging case is designed and tested in Finland. The case is made of heat-resistant glass, and when used correctly, it provides additional protection against a phone battery fire while charging. The protective case is designed to prevent the spread of possible flames and heat to the environment, where they could cause a wider fire. The protective case does not prevent battery failure modes or completely trap fire gases.
Using Varjelus is easy
- Choose a suitable flat place for the case near a power outlet and check that there are no easily combustable materials in close proximity. Make sure that children or pets cannot pull on the charging cable or drop the case.
- Place the phone on the bottom of the case so that the charging cable comes through the groove. The case can be used either way, but in our test use, the tabbed piece was selected as the bottom. You can use silicone feet on the bottom of the case to reduce its movement.
- Place the cover on while charging.
Please note that although Varjelus improves fire safety during charging, we cannot guarantee that it will prevent all possible fire or malfunction situations. Always follow the authorities' instructions regarding fire safety in the property, the use of electrical devices, and safe charging.
In an emergency
If your phone catches fire in the case, unplug the charger from the wall and avoid breathing toxic fumes. Do not touch the case or try to pull the cord out of the phone. Ventilate the room as soon as you can thoroughly. Once the case has cooled, dispose of any fire debris and damaged materials properly. Please note that fire debris is hazardous to your health. In an emergency, contact the emergency services.
Product life cycle
Varjelus is designed to last for decades. Treat it like any other glass object and avoid dropping or knocking it. For example you can wipe fingerprints off the glass surface with a suitable microfiber cloth. The broken case and packaging padding are mixed waste. The cardboard can be recycled in the cardboard collection.
